Eduardo Fajardo honored

[Eduardo Fajardo and Anontoni J. Rodriguez]

The famous Spanish actor Eduardo Fajardo received last Saturday January 29, 2010 a warm tribute for his career at the Performing Arts Center in Níjar, where the audience was thrilled by the words that the artist addressed the audience.

The event was organized by the Department of Culture, Education and Celebration of the City of Níjar and he projected the film 'Ringo the Face of Revenge' filmed in Los Albaricoques, of which Fajardo was one of the leading actors along with Anthony Steffen, one of the only living actors from the film, so that the actor's words were full of feeling and memory of all his companions.

He also recited a poem written by himself that received much applause from the public, and his deep voice touched the hearts of all.

In addition to the statements from the actor, Antonio Jesús Rodriguez, mayor of Níjar, and Manuel R. Hernandez, president of the Cultural Association Cabo de Gata-Níjar, with a girl representing Los Albaricoques spoke.

Fajardo took the opportunity to ask the City Council for the creation of a Museum of Cinema in Los Albaricoques, where he could donate photos, clothing and props used in the movies filmed there.

He also stated that "Before I die, I would like to convey everything I know to children's theater workshops of the Níjar municipality."

The mayor replied that money for the Níjareño museum had already been raised, but with the tough economic times it is very difficult to carry out the maintenance cost involved, although not ruling out the idea for the future "I work with theater groups in the area and you can count on it. "

Eduardo Fajardo is a screen legend, with a long artistic career and more than 200 films to his credit. He is one of Spain’s most decorated players nationally and internationally. He is closely linked to Níjar, where in fact a year ago he was honored with a street that bears his name in Los Albaricoques for which he said he felt very proud and honored..
