Who Are Those Guys? - Luke Askew

Luke Askew was born in 1932 in Macon, Georgia. His first film was “Hurry Sundown” in 1967 but he first cam to notice in “Cool Hand Luke” with Paul Newman in 1969. He became a cult star with his appearance in 1969's “Easy Rider” with Peter Fonda and Dennis Hopper. His long almost white hair always caught your eye and he became an easy face to recognize in all his appearances. Never becoming a star he's been an excellent character actor in the mold of Warren Oates, Dennis Hopper, Bruce Dern among others of that era. He appeared on many TV series during the next two decades and is still active today. He's set to appear in a 2011 film called “Shoedog”. His many western appearances include “Will Penny” (1967), “The Magnificent 7 Ride” and “The Culpepper Cattle Company” both 1972, “Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid” (1973) “Posse” (1975) and his only Euro-western “Night of the Serpent” in 1969.

  3. Correction Luke Askew was born in 1932 no 1937 as published in almost all of his biographies. Shock Cinema issue #39, page 10. Luke Askew interview Luke states, "I was born in 1932. The manager I had at the time wrote that I was born in 1937, but she lied."
